MedWay Ambulance Service was established as a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC) on August 17th of 2016. We Provide non-emergent non-ambulatory ambulance transport to and from: Hospitals, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Dialysis Centers, Rehabilitation Facilities, Residential Care, Oncology Centers, Extended Care Centers, Physician Offices and Long Distance Medical Transportation. Our team is highly trained and experienced in transporting patients and families. We assist each and every patient with care, providing minimal wait times and ensuring patients reach appointments on time. Our team members will include Drivers who are certified in CPR and First Responder, EMT’s who carry certification as a National Registered EMT but also through the State of South Carolina as well and are familiar in transporting the elderly as well as passengers who have mental and physical conditions, such as kidney failure. In addition, proper stretcher training, emergency preparedness, defensive driving and vehicle upkeep. MedWay Ambulance Service also offers wheelchair transport by wheelchair accessible vans with automated lifts and are operated by Certified Unit Operators. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The company is owned and operated by the sole owner, Wayne Lewis. He was born and raised in Florence, S.C. He began his EMS career in the late 1990's with Medical Transport Systems and Florence Rescue Squad when he was just 18 years of age. Over the years he continued to work for several different ambulance companies both as a driver and an EMT. He has also held titles such as Manager, Supervisor and Transfer Coordinator. Wayne holds a bachelor's degree in Public Health as well as being an EMT.

 

After 20 years in the field and working alongside some of the finest EMT's and Paramedics in our business he decided to open a service that would not only serve the patients of the Pee Dee Region some of the best patient care for transport but also offer a great working environment for our EMT's and Paramedics in our area. MedWay will always use vehicles that comply with regulations and working equipment. MedWay will also use top of the line equipment such as Stryker stretchers and computerized documentation for patient care.

Our Medical Control Physician serves as an Emergency Room Physician at Carolina Pine's Medical Center. He also owns and operates My House Call Doctor.
